Authorities in California were led to the arrest of a suspect in a church burglary thanks to a "selfie," Fox News reported.

Once officers arrived at the crime scene in Chula Vista on Monday, they discovered a phone which included a picture of 26-year-old Adam Howe. With the help of local residents, police were able to identify him and arrest him on Tuesday.

A laptop computer, cash, purshes, and watches were taken from the Hilltop Tabernacle Church.

During a search of Howe's belongings, officials discovered items allegedly stolen from the church in addition to an RV that was parked nearby. Two other people -- Victoria Corey, 19, and Mario Nava, 27 -- were arrested after the investigation connected them with stolen items as well.

The selfie craze has been landing a lot of people in trouble recently. Earlier this month, a high school student was reprimanded after posting a "selfie" with a cadaver on Instagram while visiting the University of Alabama at Birmingham's Anatomical Donor Program.

The unidentified Clements High School student took a picture of herself smiling as someone pulled a sheet off the cadaver in the background.

Spokesperson Jim Bakken told ABC that phones and pictures are not allowed in the lab. Additionally, he said, the covers over cadavers aren't meant to be lifted.

"This kind of disrespect is unacceptable and very disappointing," Bakken told ABC. "We will review our processes to ensure this does not happen again."
