Kim Jong Un's sister Kim Yo Jong slams South Korea for accusing the North of launching a preemptive strike on their neighbors.

North Korea has expressed dissatisfaction with a statement made by a top South Korean official, warning that the country may face a severe threat, according to an official.

Kim Yo Jong, the powerful sister of North Korean ruler Kim Jong Un, slammed South Korea's defense minister, labeling him a "scum-like guy" for suggesting that his country would launch a preemptive strike on their northern neighbors. She also warned that reprisal might be forthcoming after South Korean Defense Minister Suh Wook bragged on Friday that his nation could execute precise attacks on North Korea if it feels a missile strike is imminent.

North Korea Warns Dangerous Clash With the South Against Any Misjudgment

Suh Wook's remark occurred amid North Korean missile tests, and it's especially odd at a time when South Korean President Moon Jae-in is pushing for peace on the Korean Peninsula. Pak Jong Chon, a North Korean government official, also cautioned that under the current scenario, any minor misjudgment and poor comment rattling the other party might lead to a hazardous clash and a full-blown war, according to Fox News.

South Korean Defense Minister Suh Wook has talked of a preemptive strike on North Korea, according to North Korean claims released by KCNA. Suh Wook spoke about the country's ability to hit targets in the north accurately and rapidly, as well as perform precise attacks on the source of any assault, according to Yonhap News Agency on Friday. He did not mention preemptive strikes.

"He must be crazy or silly to speak of 'preemptive attack' on the nuclear weapons state," said Pak Jong Chon, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. North Korea's army will mercilessly direct all its military force into destroying major targets in Seoul and the South Korean army, according to Pak Jong Chon if South Korea attempted a preemptive attack.

South Korean Claims the North Would Mercilessly Destroy Sites in Seoul

Suh Wook's comments come after weeks of escalating tensions with North Korea. Since warning in January that it would abandon the testing moratorium, Pyongyang has increased activity at major missile and nuclear weapons sites, and this month fired a new, bigger intercontinental ballistic missile, Bloomberg via MSN reported.

If the South Korean army participates in a risky military operation such as a preemptive attack, Pak Jong Chon, secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea's Central Committee, vowed the North would mercilessly direct all its military power toward destroying important sites in Seoul and the South Korean army. The warnings came after North Korea fired two ballistic missiles, one of which was a new intercontinental ballistic missile system that the nation is building, on February 26 and March 4.

Last Monday, the hermit nation performed its first comprehensive ICBM test in 2017, as a result, the US placed penalties on five organizations suspected of assisting Kim Jong-un in the development of weapons of mass devastation, plans for ballistic missiles. On May 10, President-elect Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea will be sworn in. Yoon campaigned on scrapping a military pact between South Korea and North Korea, as well as restoring joint US military drills that had been reduced or eliminated, as per Mirror.
