California authorities are investigating a possible double-homicide after discovering two adults dead in their home on Sunday, NBC Los Angeles reported.

According to Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Hallock, the deaths were reported around 2 a.m. Additionally, an 8-year-old boy was found injured in the home. He was rushed to the hospital and listed in serious condition.

Names of the victims have not been released.

Officials were searching the home, located in a neighborhood where "The Real Housewives of Orange County" has filmed, and spoke to neighbors who expressed their shock at the news.

"They're always there, they're always together, that family never separates," a friend of the family, Kelsey Winterbottom, told NBC. "The kids are with the parents every day, every minute. They do everything together. They're just the best family."

According to neighbors, the family has five children, including the 8-year-old boy and two who may be away at college. It was not immediately known where the other two children might be.

"It just scares me that they can get past that and makes me want to up our security," neighbor Sophie Waring said. "It's just sad that we're not even safe in our own homes."

Investigators said the deaths were not a result of a home invasion but may have been homicides.

"We don't have any specific suspect information at this point, but I'd like to reiterate that we believe San Juan Capistrano has been and continues to be a very safe community."

Bria Peterson, a neighbor of the family, said the uncertainty of what happened makes her concerned for her safety.

"We live right next door and knowing that no one has been caught ... I feel like anyone could be in my backyard," she said.
