Sony Computer Entertainment has announced the latest software update 1.60 for the PlayStation 4 for the compatibility of new wireless headset for the nex-gen console.

The PULSE and PULSE - Elite Edition wireless stereo headsets start at $99.99, Sony stated in the official PlayStation Blog. The company is also launching a free Headset Companion App, which will be available in the PlayStation Store in February.

"The app allows you to download developer-created game modes that are specifically tuned to enhance a game's audio," Sony wrote in a blog post. "Kicking off the custom sound modes will be Sucker Punch, who's developing a mode for their highly anticipated PS4 exclusive inFAMOUS Second Son. In addition to these custom game modes, the app also offers a variety of preset audio modes for games, music and movies, as well as a tool to create your own custom EQ mode."

The PS4 system update v.1.60 will be available for users starting Monday, Feb. 3. You can check to see when the update goes live here.  According to the PlayStation Blog, Sony will also be releasing a Gold Wireless Headset (pictured above), which users can connect to their PS3, PS4 or computer wirelessly using the adaptor.

The headset should last through eight hours of gameplay and includes 3.5mm audio cable to hook up to your PS Vita.

"We know you've been patiently waiting for this update, which means PS4 owners will now be able to enjoy an enhanced gaming experience with 7.1 virtual surround sound and crystal clear voice chat with our official PlayStation headsets," Sony wrote. "PlayStation headsets are created for PlayStation gamers, by gamers - and designed to truly provide the audio that game developers intended. It's truly how games were meant to sound."
