U.S First Lady Michelle Obama has expressed her support on Subway's latest marketing campaign which aims to help promote healthy eating to kids.

Obama was joined by athletes Michael Phelps, Justin Tuck, and gymnast Nastia Liukin during a press conference at the Subway, Washington DC branch near the White House. Representing Subway was spokesperson Jared Fogle.

Obama expressed her support on Subway's "Playtime Powered by Veggies" initiative. This $41 million campaign includes creating more nutritious meal choices for kids by offering more fruits and vegetables. The sandwich fast food chain believes that by doing so, it will encourage families to eat healthier meals.

"I'm excited about these initiatives not just as a First Lady, but also as a mom," said First Lady Michelle Obama in a press release. "Subway's kids' menu makes life easier for parents, because they know that no matter what their kids order, it's going to be a healthy choice."

The First Lady has been very supportive of campaigns that promote healthy eating as she wants to see children grown up healthy by making healthy meal choices. She believes that a healthy kid can have more chance of pursuing his dream. She has also encouraged the private sector to join her with her "Let's Move!" campaign and Subway is one of those who heard her.

The partnership will ran for three years making it the largest investment Subway ever made. As part of their commitment, the sandwich fast food chain will put a sign "Playtime Powered by Veggies" on every door and will play a video of Disney's The Muppets. It will also start adding on the kids' menus meals that follow the federal standards of the national school lunch program which include having apples as side dish and using low-fat or non-fat milk on beverages.
