Latest reports escalated that the OnePlus 2 will not receive any Android 7.0 Nougat update as confirmed by the company's representative. But the news came from an owner who received an email from a OnePlus customer support representative.
According to Android Headlines, an owner of OnePlus2 posted a confirmation online which somewhat contained a transcript of a conversation between the owner and the said representative. With this, it looks like the customer support representative just confirmed that the said device will not be receiving any Android 7.0 Nougat update.
In the said transcript of the conversation, the customer support representative outright confirmed that the company also discontinued giving updates for dated devices. However, this reason raised oppositions from the users since the OnePlus 2 is still under the two-year maker.
It can be recalled that the OnePlus 2 was launched with the Android 5.1 before it got an update for Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Therefore it is just expected and timely that the device will get an update for Android 7.0 Nougat before the OnePlus 5 will be launched.
Last March, the users got an inkling that the OnePlus 2 will get an update for Android 7.0 since reports were rife before that the said device was spotted being tested for Android 7.1.1. That's why most of the users could not contain their excitement for the said update to Android 7.0.
Meanwhile, TechDroider added that one more reason why the users still expect for the update despite the confirmation from the customer support representative was the confirmation that was made last 2016. It can be recalled that OnePlus confirmed during a "Q and A" with Helen that OnePlus 2 will get the N update. With this, some presumed that the same issue will also happen to OnePlus3 as well as to 3T.
However, with the transcript between the customer support representative and the user, some were thinking if the OnePlus policy is true to all. If the company decided to discontinue giving updates for date devices, then the OnePlus 2 is not an exception.
