OnePlus has now released the second beta version of Android 7.0 Nougat for OnePlus 3 devices. The first beta release was rolled out at end of November via OxygenOS Open Beta 8.

This second update promises to bring a number of improvements to the Nougat experience in OnePlus 3.

The software update is about 118 MB and its official name is OxygenOS Open Beta 9 for OnePlus 3, arriving with expanded screenshot support while also housing a number of optimizations within the software's shelf design, user interface, DPI and battery performance. There is a usual spate of stability, performance and bug fixes also.

For OnePlus 3 users who already have OxygenOS Open Beta 8 installed, the new software will be available as an over-the-air update, but those who haven't tried Open Beta will need to flash the newest build via ADB sideload. Once flashed, users are expected to continue receiving new beta builds as OnePlus releases them in the future.

As a precaution, users having Open Beta on their OnePlus 3 devices will be barred from receiving over-the-air updates for the official, stable and final OxygenOS releases. These devices will need to be manually flashed back to an official start receiving stable releases.

The OnePlus 3 is OnePlus' previous flagship phone, was first released back in June. It rocks a 5.5-inch Full display with 401 ppi. Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 is an undercover quad-core processor with an Adreno 530 GPU for graphics.

The phone comes with 64 GB internal memory and 6 GB of RAM. It has 16-megapixel of camera capable of recording 4K videos, while on the front is an 8-mexapixel camera capable of recording 1080p videos.

Its flagship status have been recently seized by the OnePlus 3T, released this past November. Its not necessarily an improvement over its predecessor by any means, the processor was increased to Qualcomm SnapDragon 821, alongside the battery, which was increased from 3000 mAh to 3400 mAh.

The OnePlus 3T costs $439 and is available on OnePlus' site.
