Some critics have outright expressed their disgust of there being one too many "The Fast and the Furious" movies. But the insane amount of views that was observed for the trailer of the latest movie, "The Fate of the Furious," may be saying otherwise. Based on the large audience that took a peak at the upcoming movie's first trailer, it would be safe to assume that there is in fact a huge amount of anticipation for the franchise's eighth installment.

The trailer itself features the different new faces that will be appearing in the new movie along with the original "Fast and Furious" cast. The story is revealed to revolve around Dominic Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, betraying the very family he has sworn to protect. The trailer contains the typical scenes found in "Fast and Furious" trailers including huge explosions, fast cars and intense action.

In response to critics who have ridiculed the overly drawn out premise of the franchise, Vin Diesel posted a video on Facebook, explaining to fans his reasoning behind the movie's plot. In the video, the actor mentioned that the events of the upcoming film were inevitable and that he simply wanted to explore a story that would challenge the audience's concept of family. Diesel then teased fans to just go see the movie for them to fully understand what his character will be going through.

Meanwhile, reports from Universal Pictures (via Yahoo News) have revealed that the upcoming movie's first trailer apparently garnered more than 139 million views just in the first 24 hours after it was released. The studio originally launched the trailer over the past weekend, right after it held a live Facebook event featuring the stars of the new movie.

The number of views gained by the movie's trailer officially beat the record set by the "Beauty and the Beast" trailer released last month. Disney's live-action film adaptation of its iconic animated movie was able to get 127.6 million views in its first day online.

"The Fate of the Furious" is scheduled to hit theaters on April 14, 2017.
