During an interview on Howard Stern's radio show, producer Harvey Weinstein revealed that Anne Hathaway was his first choice for Jennifer Lawrence's role in "Silver Linings Playbook" but the "Princess Diaries" actress backed out due to "creative differences."

"Silver Linings Playbook" won Jennifer Lawrence an Oscar last year and Anne Hathaway must have banged her head on the wall! Why? In a recent interview on Howard Stern's radio show, producer Harvey Weinstein revealed that the "Princess Diaries" actress was his first chose for Lawrence's role but Hathaway turned him down due to "creative differences."

"Silver Linings Playbook" was originally going to be with Anne Hathaway and Mark Wahlberg . . . and then Anne wasn't doing it. And she's marvelous, and wonderful and she was my choice, I love her," the producer said, according to Daily Mail. "David (O. Russell)and Anne had some creative differences. They didn't see eye-to-eye. And so she backed out."

Mark Wahlberg was also replaced with Bradley Cooper and it seems like the switch worked pretty well for everyone. The film went on to win many awards apart from Lawrence's Best Actress' Oscar win. As of May 2013, the movie grossed a little over $132 million. The film also did wonders for Lawrence's career. She also picked up the Golden Globes Award for Best Supporting Actress in the film during the 71st Golden Globes Award held earlier this week. Click here to view a full list of winners at the Awards.

While Hathaway may be regretting letting pass such a great film, she may not be brooding all that much, given "Les Miserables" also won her an Oscar last year. She picked up the award for the Best Supporting Actress for her fantastic portrayal of Fantine in the movie musical. The movie didn't fair too badly at the box office too if gross earnings are anything to go by. According to IMDB, the movie made over $148 million till March 2013, which clearly means it surpassed "Silver Linings Playbook" in terms of revenue by quite a margin.

This is not the first time Hathaway has turned down a movie role that went on to become a big hit. During a 2012 interview with Allure Magazine, the 31-year old revealed she had also backed out from the 2007 comedy "Knocked Up" where she was approached for Katherine Heigl's role. Her reason for declining the offer was a graphic birth scene.

"I thought about that [director] Judd [Apatow] was right to include the shot. I didn't disagree with the shot," she explained at that time. "My issue with it was that having not experienced motherhood myself, I didn't know how I was gonna feel on the other side about giving birth. Because giving birth involves another human being, I didn't feel it was fair for me to make that call for myself. And by the way, I could pop out a kid and think, 'Oh, well, really should have done that movie.'"

So how did "Knocked Up" fair sans Hathaway? Not too bad! In fact not bad at all! The movie released inJune 2007 starring Seth Rogen, Katherine Heigl, Paul Rudd, and Leslie Mann.  Though the film didn't take home any biggies when it came to awards, it's gross earning was quite an impressive number - a whopping $149 million till September, 2007, according to IMDB.  The film was also the inspiration for Judd Apatow's 2012 romantic comedy "This is 40."

Hathaway has just returned from a long holiday in Hawaii with husband Adam Shulman. According to an E!Online report, she was immediately mobbed by a large crowd of fans as she touched down at the Los Angeles International Airport. The report revealed that the actress looked quite "terrified" by the large crowd but later started smiling and signing autographs.
