The Moto Z and Moto Z Force are officially getting Android 7.0 Nougat, as Motorola just confirmed the global rollout.

"We'll begin rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat globally to Moto Z and Moto Z Force this week," the company stated in a blogpost. This means the Moto Z and Moto Z Droid will be the first Motorola smartphones to get Nougat.

Motorola had promised in October that they will roll out Android 7.0 Nougat by the end of this year and now, Nougat has made its way to Moto Z and Moto Z Force smartphones in the US.

The company also highlight that the latest upgrade makes its smartphones Daydream-ready, which is quite an honour. The Daydream is Google's platform for mobile virtual reality that is aiming to deliver immersive, high-quality experiences. With this the Moto Z and Moto Z Force are now invited to the VR party.

So far, the only smartphones to support Daydream have been Google's own Pixel and Pixel XL and more smartphones are expected to be Daydream-ready soon, but Motorola now has a leg up on the competition.

To take advantage of the Daydream platform, you will also need to purchase Google's $79 Daydream View headset with controller that is available at the Google Store, Verizon and Best Buy in the United States, reports TechTimes.

Some of the Moto-specific updates that were detailed for the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus, beyond what Android 7.0 Nougat, include a new Moto action called Swipe to shrink the screen. For Moto G4 Plus, company has added a new setting to disable and enable locking screen when the screen is on and when user touches the fingerprint sensor.

Other Motorola phones that will receive the Nougat update are: Moto G Play (4th Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X Force, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Play, Moto Z Play Droid and Nexus 6.
