Audi is finally taking the curtains off its newest compact Crossover concept at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show after teasing the audience with some sketches in December.

Audi, one of the biggest luxury car makers around the world, created a buzz about its secretive Crossover concept car in December with a series of sketches. The sketches had a promising touch and the German car maker revealed that the speculated Q1 model was just a part of Audi's "road-based SUV strategy." After keeping mum for a little over a month, Audi has finally showed the first set of pictures of the new Crossover concept, which will make its debut at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show starting Monday, January 13-26, 2014.

The upcoming Crossover will be an electric hybrid with two electric motors, one on each axle. The 8.8kWh battery allows the motors on both axles to travel up to 31 miles on battery power before switching to the gasoline engine. The car will also carry an "e-tron" emblem on the sides. The Audi Crossover gets the 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that can produce 292bhp and 380Nm of peak torque. The new Audi can go up to 60mph in 4.6 seconds with a top accelerated speed of 155mph, which is electronically limited.

The newest model has had a complete exterior overhaul. The two-door concept features a sporty look with its sharp headlights and the Audi logo embracing the horizontal grille. The rear end adds to the sportiness with dual exhaust and a wheel base of 2.51 meters to compliment the 19-inch alloy wheels. The concept Crossover will be 4.2 meters long, 1.85 meters wide and 1.41 meters tall in overall measurements.

Similar high-class standards are maintained on the inside with enough room for four people. The front seats match the sportiness on the outside, with optimal body support, curvy lateral panels and head restraints for great comfort. The rear seats can be folded.

"The cockpit is very focused on the driver. The steering wheel and digital instrument cluster lie in a single direct line of sight," Audi explained in its press release, Sunday. "The TFT display with its 12.3 inch screen presents all key information in top quality 3D graphics and offers a variety of modes. In the classic view, the powermeter for the plug-in hybrid drive system and the speedometer are in the foreground, while in Infotainment mode elements such as the large navigation map dominate, and in Sport mode the tachometer is prominently displayed."
