There is a new possibility in front of Apple Inc. And that is moving on to smartglasses. Even though it is a difficult feat, it unfolds a number of possibilities.

Being still in a developmental phase, Smartglass is thought to link in a wireless technique to the user's iPhone. It will enable images as well as Internet browsing. For the purpose, the company might use augmented reality.

While Apple has placed orders for a small number of smartglasses, there is not enough for mass production.

With the sale of iPhones having come down, Apple has been asked to deliver something new. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook said he was excited about the augmented reality. After all, with the rise of Pokemon Go, a location-based game using the technology, there has been a lot of interest generated for it.

Hence, the first venture into the hardware market, targeting Pokemon Go, is expected to be Apple smartglass. It is still in its exploration phase.

Before Apple, Alphabet too had introduced the new technology before it was stopped over privacy concerns. Snap's smartglass in 2012 looked too "awkward" to last. Combined with privacy concerns, the end of the smartglass was quicker than Snap expected, says Inverse. It was a video-camera sunglass.

Even though the launch of smartglasses for Apple is going to be a difficult thing to go into, it would be impossible to create small batteries with enough power for virtual reality. However, experts are sure that Apple might be successful in the long run, as the company is reputed for its ability to turn technological advances into "easy-to-use" products.

The device will be introduced in 2018.
