If you look your friend in the eye and utter the phrase, "I see dead people" in a hushed tone, they'll likely know you're referencing M. Night Shyamalan creepy horror-drama "The Sixth Sense," but the popularity of the line still surprises the child star who made it famous, Haley Joel Osment.

Fifteen years ago, Osment was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the film alongside Bruce Willis as a little boy who could speak to the dead. On an Access Hollywood appearance on Thursday, the 25-year-old actor said, "I will not stop being surprised by how much of a catchphrase that became.Looking back, it makes sense now, but when we shot the movie nobody was thinking... that it was going to be the hit that was and established that sort of call sign."

Indeed, the catchphrase has been spoofed countless times in popular culture, including the 2000 horror comedy spoof, "Scary Movie."

"The Sixth Sense" helped Osment rise to fame, though he isn't working on any horror projects at the moment. One of his latest projects, "The Spoils of Babylon," puts himself alongside Tobey Maguire and Kristen Wiig in a new comedic treat, Yahoo! reports, which premiered Jan. 9 on IFC.

"Tobey's been funny before, but I don't think anyone has quite seen him like this," Osment said. "And Kristen, who is just one of the funniest people around, really knocks it out of the park. It was some of the most fun I've ever had."
