'The Young and the Restless' fans have been really intrigued by the suspense surrounding Adam Newman and now it seems the storyline will see some major developments on this front. The coming episodes might surprise viewers with a much-talked-about comeback.

Sally Sussman, the head writer of 'The Young and the Restless' has revealed that Adam Newman might not come back but she has plans to change plotlines with regard to Christian Newman, reports iTechPost. Sussman also confirmed that Justin Hartley is not returning to the CBS show which has sparked off rumors about the comeback of Michael Muhney, who left the show in August 2014 after some dispute.

Another reason the speculations are swirling is the fact that the soap opera has been focusing on Christian over the past weeks. Everyone knows that Adam is connected to Christian in a big way.  Though Sussman has said that Nick is Christian's father, her comments that Adam would not be back unless there is a compelling need for him to do so leave enough scope to conjecture about his comeback.

Meanwhile, actor Michael Muhney has dropped hints about his return, reports Showbiz 411. His recent tweet has further strengthened the speculations. The actor might be on board and more so because former executive producer Jill Farren is not associated with the show anymore.

However, his return might also concur with the departure of actress Hunter King who has been promoted to the prime time show 'Life in Pieces.' King's contract status recently changed from regular to recurring in the soap opera. Well, whatever may be said, the fact remains that fans love him and would be delighted to see him back.

It is worth mentioning here that Muhney was abruptly dismissed from 'The Young and the Restless' in 2014 and it was rumored that he had been removed because of a groping incident involving a young actress. Justin Hartley stepped into the role afterward and at present the character of Adam is presumed to be dead.
