The past few days have been really excruciating for Hillary Clinton as the ex-presidential candidate has been going through a tough phase ever since she lost the elections to Donald Trump. The media glare refuses to leave her and among all the controversies surrounding her defeat, the one that really shocked everyone was her split from husband Bill Clinton.

The divorce story first appeared in Christian Times Newspaper and now it has been proved that it was nothing but a disgraceful attempt at sensational journalism, reports The Huffington Post. According to the publication, the story has been debunked, saying that it excels in the art of publishing hoax stories and fake news.

According to Snopes the website imitates the name of the famous newspaper Christian Times and though it does not call itself a fake news publication, it has a way to get away with responsibility. The disclaimer comes to its rescue which says that the publication does not take any responsibility for the actions of the readers that may result from reading the stories published on its website. What is more, it had carried many other fake stories related to the Clinton couple.

Notably, Christian Time Newspaper had reported that Hillary Clinton filed for divorce from Bill Clinton a day after losing the Presidential election to Donald Trump. It stated that Bill Clinton just got served by his wife and then went on to cite court documents according to which Hillary had filed for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.

However, this is not the first time that Hillary and Bill Clinton's divorce has become a headline grabbing news story. Two years back, another online publication that goes by the name of National Report had also carried out a similar story stating that Hillary had filed for divorce in order to make her Presidency path hassle-free.

It cited an anonymous staff member of White House as saying that an official separation from the scandal-struck Bill Clinton would clear Hillary's way to build a bullet-proof campaign.
