The New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings began the 2016-2017 NBA regular season on a wrong foot. Both teams continue to struggle and many believe that they should do something to change their fate. Rumors are now spreading that both teams are looking to make a deal that involves Kristaps Porzingis and Rudy Gay.

Porzingis was one biggest revelation as a rookie last year. Though playing in his first year, he seems to be playing like a veteran last season and silence his detractors who question him being drafted by the Knicks as their 4th overall pick in the 1st round.

This season, he gets better averaging 19.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game but many speculate that he is not in good terms with Knicks new head coach Jeff Hornacek.

On the other hand, Gay is also doing great at the start of the season averaging 21.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game but it doesn't translate to wins for the team. Gay, who has been vocal about his decision to leave the Kings after this season, might choice to depart with the team much earlier.

With Porzingis having trouble to adapt to coach Jeff system and Gay is really determined to leave the Kings, reports are saying that it might be better if both teams will work on a deal between their players. According to ChattSportsNet, the proposed deal will take Kristaps Porzingis to the Sacramento Kings while the New York Knicks will receive Rudy Gay in return.

The report also says that it will be a win-win situation for both teams as both players will fit well on their new team. Having Porzingis will give the Kings a powerful twin-tower combo with DeMarcus Cousins and their presence will give a hard time to other teams who wants to penetrate the paint.

Meanwhile, adding Gay to Knicks roster will give them an ample support to Carmelo Anthony and preserve him come playoff time. Having Gay would also accelerate the Knicks rebuilding process if ever they wish to as per stated in the report.

As per Sportsrageous, coach Hornacek is rumored to be not happy with Porzingis performance the past few games leading to his benching against the Piston and might be relegated to the second unit. If the move will truly happen, it might lead to Porzingis' frustration and he may decide to leave the team.
