Sony kept promising to bring its Android 7.0 Nougat beta program to the Xperia X Performance, and finally, the program is kicked off in full. Those who registered for the beta program are beginning to receive e-mails confirming that the first Nougat pre-release is about to go live.

An email sent to users enrolled in the company's beta program. The email has given information to the users about the latest Android Nougat Build for the Xperia X Performance.

As expected, the latest version of Android Nougat beta is now live and the first screenshots have begun trickling in.

If you want to update your Sony handset and if you have single SIM variant, then you can update easily as the beta firmware is only available for the single SIM, F8131, variant of the Xperia X Performance, which is coming with the build number 39.2.A.0.248.

The latest update to Nougat doesn't make any drastic changes to Sony's already minimal UI adjustments. But there is a full set of Nougat features to be seen on board that includes split-screen and the new notification panel buttons

Also, Sony has made a couple of changes to its camera software that is the introduction of manual shutter speed and ISO controls at the full 23MP resolution in the latest OS update.

The latest firmware also brings Sony's STAMINA mode that will cut off app processes which are not in use and will help in reducing CPU strain which translates to more power saved, reports Tech Times.

The Sony X performance was released in the June this year with a rocking 5-inch Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 Triluminos display, that features 32 GB of internal storage and expandable up to 256 GB via microSD. The handset on-board is 3 GB of RAM, a 2,700 mAh battery and a 13-megapixel front camera.

There are also some other Sony devices which are confirmed to get the new update including Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia XA Ultra.
