Despite Davis' 50, Pelicans fall to Nuggets, 107-102

Anthony Davis had a big night for the New Orleans Pelicans' home opener. But despite that, they still lose a close game against the Denver Nuggets, 107-102.

Anthony Davis score 50 points on 17-34 field goal shooting and 16-17 from the free-throw line. He also had 16 rebounds, 5 assists, 7 steals and 4 blocks. Tim Frazier, the new starting point guard for the Pelicans, had also a terrific game scoring 15 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished out 11 assists, per ESPN.

Jusuf Nurkic surprisingly led the Nuggets' scoring in their season opener scoring 23 points on 9-13 shooting and 5-6 from the free-throw line. Will Barton supported Nurkic on the offensive end with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

New Orleans Pelicans will next play the NBA superteam Golden State Warriors at Smoothie King Center on Friday. The Denver Nuggets, on the other hand, will play the Portland Trailblazers on Saturday at Pepsi Center.

Russell Westbrook flirts with triple-double as Thunder beat the Sixers, 103-97

Russell Westbrook had an expected monster game in NBA season debut as the Oklahoma City Thunder win its first game in the post-Durant era against the Philadelphia 76ers, 103-97.

Westbrook had 32 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists. He shot 11-21 from the floor and 9-11 from the free-throw line. Enes Kanter came off the bench to score 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in just 24 minutes of playing time, per ESPN.

Joel Embiid had a great game in his NBA debut despite the loss. He recorded 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 block shots. He shot 6-16 from the floor and 7-8 from the free-throw line. Sergio Rodriguez chipped in with 12 points, 9 assists and 4 rebounds.

Oklahoma City Thunder will next play against the Phoenix Suns at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Friday. The Philadephia 76ers will play the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday at Wells Fargo Center in Philadephia.

Boston Celtics victorious in Al Horford's debut against the Brooklyn Nets, 122-117

The Boston Celtics came out victorious in Al Horford's first game in a Celtics uniform against Jeremy Lin and the Brooklyn Nets, 122-117.

Al Horford had a decent game in his Celtics' debut with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 blocks in 27 minutes of action. Isaiah Thomas once again led the Celtics in scoring with 25 points on 7-14 shooting and 9-9 from the free-throw line. Jae Crowder contributed well for the Celtics on the offensive as he bucketed 21 points, per ESPN.

Jeremy Lin played well in his debut with the Brooklyn Nets as he tallied 18 points on 6-14 shooting from the field and 4-5 from the free-throw line in 28 minutes of playing time. He also had 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block. As good as Lin played, it was Bojan Bogdanovic who topped the scoring sheet for the Nets as he scored 21 points with 3 three-pointers.

The Boston Celtics will once again test their strength on Thursday against Jimmy Butler and the Chicago Bulls at United Center in Chicago. Jeremy Lin and the Brooklyn Nets will battle against Paul George and the Indiana Pacers on Saturday 7:30pm ET at the Barclays Center.
