Microsoft Surface Phone is in the works. And it will be unveiled by Microsoft this October 26.
The technology giant is expected to launch a powerful and advanced smartphone, which will compete with Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy smartphones.

Here are the top five reasons why people will want to buy the Surface Phone.

Release Date

Many are speculating that the new Surface Phone will be unveiled on October 26 during a Microsoft event. Microsoft Australia even posted in its Twitter account a supposed Microsoft Surface Phone teaser.

However, the Surface Phone release date is not until 2017. Even if it will indeed be unveiled this month.

Fingerprint Sensor

Microsoft Surface Phone specs include a fingerprint sensor. Nothing unusual, right? But not in this case, Microsoft is planning on putting the fingerprint sensor right on top of the device's display.

Apparently, Microsoft already has a pending patent for "Fingerprint Detection with Transparent Cover" to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Intel Kaby Lake or Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 Processor

The new Surface Phone is speculated to run on either Intel's newest seventh generation chipset or Qualcomm's newest powerful chipset.

Intel Kaby Lake processor will only be available by the end of 2016. While Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 will be available in early 2017.

This also explains why the Surface Phone release date is not until 2017.

RedStone 2

Microsoft is also planning to enhance user experience of the Windows 10 for smartphones.

RedStone 2 is Microsoft's newest OS, which will be launched on 2017. RedStone 2 will replace the Windows OS. Making Windows 10 the last OS under the Windows brand.

Under the Hood Features and Prices

The Microsoft Surface Phone specs include a 5.7 inch 2K screen AMOLED display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixel resolution.

There is also a smaller Surface Pen included and a USB Type-C Port for faster charging and data transfers. The rear camera will be 21 MP while the front camera will be 8 MP.

Microsoft Surface Phone will be available in three variants: the 3 GB, 6 GB and 8 GB RAM with 32 GB, 128 GB and 500 GB Internal Storage. Prices are $699 and $800-1099, respectively.
