According to a recent fan theory, Kylo Ren's association with the Force is not his own doing. In fact, his power comes from Darth Vader inspired helmet.

The theory was posted by a Reddit user, Backwardsglove, who said that it is the mask that was inspired by Darth Vader helmet that is the Force relic. However, in reality, Kylo Ren himself doesn't have that kind of affinity to the Force.

In his theory, Backwardsglove noted that Kylo Ren is weaker in absence of the mask and is always performing tricks when he is wearing the mask. He also explained that in the Expanded Universe, Force Relic can work wonders on the Force's power for someone who knows the tricks to use it.

This theory makes a lot of sense and could mean that Kylo Ren is more powerful when is behind the Darth Vader-esque helmet. The mask plays a psychological role in his strength, as can be seen in Episode 7. Kylo Ren was often seen battling the pull of the Light Side. However, when is inside the mask, he is able to hide Ben Solo and he becomes a part of his grandfather's relic. The upcoming film will feature Kylo's resistance to get influenced by the light.

By wearing the mask, he is able to fight any inner conflicts and he feels as powerful as Darth Vader. Besides, unless Kylo was dominant with the Force, Snoke, the Supreme Leader, would not take keen interest in him.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors that the upcoming "Stars Wars: Episode 8" will take the viewers into Kylo Ren backstory, and show Rey's encounter with him.
