The recent airstrikes in Aleppo killed 14 members of the same family, among the victims were two infants and eight other children. 

Since Sunday, 45 people were killed in two neighborhoods in Aleppo with 30 of the victims killed during Sunday night airstrikes in an offensive by the Syrian government.

Russia is siding with Assad, the head of state of Syria, and blocked a resolution of the Security Council to stop the military action of the government against the opposition.

Besides, humanitarian aid to the people in Aleppo was prevented. Western governments accused the Syrian president of crimes against humanity because his military actions have killed many people and devastated the city. The opposition blamed the governments of Russia and Syria for the atrocities.

At the same time, Iraqi and Kurdish military with the support of a coalition led by the United States try to recover the city of Mosul from the hands of the Islamic State.

It´s supposed that Syria could try to take advantage of this situation and keep bombing Aleppo while the attention of the world is focused in the city of Mosul.

Syrian government claimed that 49 rebels were killed and hurt while fighting in Aleppo.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson declare that all options are on the table.

Syria is approaching Egypt, the most populated Arab nation, to fight against the opposition in the area. A short time ago, Egypt favored the Syrian government which angered Saudi Arabia - a nation that helps Egypt economically.

Saudi Arabia opposes the government of Assad and dislikes the Russian policy in the region.

United States and its allies accused Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his supporters of abuses. U.S. and UK could launch economic sanctions against Syria and Russia because of the airstrikes on the city of Aleppo.
