Android TV has not seen a whole lot of success. Expert said it is the fault of hardware rather than the software. Xiaomi has announced that its long-awaited Android TV streaming box is now available in the U.S.

The new Xiaomi Mi Box coming with pre installed Android TV 6.0 and supports 4K streaming at up to 60 frames per second. The Mi Box will also support HDR10 standard and latest Android 7.0 Nougat.

It is sold for $69. It offers 4K capabilities and has the power under the hood to run all of your apps and games.

Xiaomi's Android TV box comes with the niceties you would be expecting, like Android apps, Google voice search, and Cast support with the use of its voice remote.

Gamers can also add a Mi Game Controller to it. But that accessory is not yet available at Mi store.

According to TechHive, Xiaomi Mi Box feature 2GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 processor with 750MHz Mail 450 GPU. The box comes with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of eMMC onboard flash storage. Mi Box supports expandable storage via the box's single USB 2.0 port.

It also support Wi-Fi with dual-band support for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.0 and a single HDMI 2.0 port with support for HDCP 2.2.

There is also power port, HDMI port, full-size USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The USB and headphone ports set the Mi Box different from others because they allow the Mi Box to expand its storage and bypass the TV for audio playback, wrote in a review at 9to5google.

Xiaomi's competitor is Nvidia's Shield console. But Nvidia is focused on gaming, which has more to do with the Shield's continued existence than anything else. At $69, Mi Box might be more interesting for anyone looking for an "Android" equivalent to the Apple TV.

For purchasing Mi Box, you can go to Mi's online store or Walmart.com. You can also go to nearest Wallmart store.
