Right before the new year, Amanda Bynes was photographed taking a stroll through her Thousand Oaks, Calif. neighborhood rocking a brand new hair color, the Daily Mail reports.

The troubled Nickelodeon star completed her rehab program at The Canyon Treatment Center in Malibu and was discharged to the care of her parents, Lynn and Rick, late December after a tumtultous year battling unspecified mental health issues (rumored bipolar disorder and schizophrenia) under the scrutiny of the media. Now the 27-year-old actress is leading a laid-back life in her hometown, and most recently, enrolled in a private fashion design school under an alias, according to TMZ.

The Orange County-based school is reportedly the same one that "The Hills" star Lauren Conrad attended.

On Sunday, Bynes was photographed taking a neighborhood stroll wearing a black "Homies" t-shirt, jeans, sunglasses and pink sneakers, her hair back to its natural blonde color and looking healthy. Last year, the star was spotted sporting a messy blonde wig while wandering the streets of Manhattan, as well as her infamous cotton candy blue wig, both of which she wore during her various court dates.

As Bynes has been ruled mentally fit to stand trial for her DUI charges, she will be back in court on Jan. 7 for a hearing.

Since leaving rehab, Bynes has ditched the wigs and her cheek piercings, her Twitter page that used to host dozens of bizarre messages having been silent since mid-July.
