Microsoft Surface Phone has been highly anticipated and speculated ever since the news of it first broke the internet.

Who will not be excited with the new rumored smartphone from Microsoft after the success of Surface Book and Surface Pro?

Microsoft is expected to launch the new Surface Pro 5 this coming October. But many will surely be disappointed because it seems that the Surface Phone will not be part of the great reveal.

However, Microsoft Australia recently had a blunder when its Twitter account posted a Microsoft Surface Phone teaser. This led many to believe that the Surface Phone will be, indeed, be unveiled in October together with Surface Pro 5.

Yet, if the October unveiling will be true, the smartphone is still not expected to be released until 2017. The reasons are very simple.

Microsoft is taking precious time in developing the Surface Phone to compete with Apple's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy smartphones. The technology giant does not want its first ever Surface Phone to be behind in terms of technology.

Microsoft Surface Phone is rumored to be equipped with a fingerprint sensor right on the device's display. If this is true, this will revolutionize the current fingerprint sensors of smartphones.

Beta News reported that Microsoft already submitted a patent for "Fingerprint Detection with Transparent Cover" to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The new Surface Phone is also waiting for the mass production of Intel's Kaby Lake processor, which will only be available by the end of 2016. The Kaby Lake is Intel's newest seventh generation chipset.

Microsoft is also planning to enhance user experience of the Windows 10 for smartphones. And the newest major update for Microsoft 10, codenamed RedStone 2, will be installed in the new Surface Phone.

The Surface Phone will also have a 5.7 inch 2K screen AMOLED display with USB Type-C Port for data transfers and 21 MP Carl Zeiss rear camera and 8 MP front camera.

Microsoft Surface Phone will be available in three models. These are the 3 GB, 6 GB and 8 GB RAM with 32 GB, 128 GB and 500 GB Internal Storage, priced at $699 and $800-1099, respectively.
