HBO recently released the pilot episode of "Westworld", an ambitious sci-fi western-themed series with Anthony Hopkins as the main character.

The series is based on the 1973 cult film of Michael Crichton, the idea of Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and J. J. Abrams.

At first sight, "Westworld" is great "theme park" in which rich people go to experience the life of the Wild West. None of the residents of this park is real - they are robots, but very humanlike who do not know they are not people.

They fully mimic human traits -- communicate with each other and, with the visitors of the park, feel all the emotions from love to fear.

These unfortunate creatures are just toys of wealthy visitors of "Westworld" that sometimes have very sadistic desires.

The robot's cold world has only begun to be revealed in the series, which many considered as the new "Game of Thrones".

Could "Westworld" surpass "Game of the Thrones"?

Judging by initial reactions from critics, it is very possible.

However, judging by the opinion of the audience, the first episode is excellent but cannot be compared with GOT (except they are coming from HBO kitchen, of course).

Some people don't think that "Westworld" would take as long as GOT as the former's popularity was merely due to a plain marketing hype and nothing more.

The over 3.3 million viewers of Westworld's pilot episode are giving a great start for HBO. The number doesn't even include live views. For now, Westworld has successfully lived up to the hype.

Its debut was made even more impressive knowing the kind of competition it faced.

A few days ago, Netflix debuted its new Marvel series Luke Cage that caught more attention on social media than any other new series this week. However, despite the hype about the newest Defender, "Westworld" still managed to score a strong debut.
