Google will be giving the Amazon Echo a run for its money. This year, the Google Home device will finally make a splash in the market.

Google is out to gain a piece of the market in the entertainment scene as its Home Assistant will have virtual control over the company's audio aspects.

The voice-controlled speaker, which was introduced last May 2016, is slated to be released in December this year. Google's new item assumes the form of a minimalist cylinder with an angled top. The lower part of the case is modular. It can be accessorized with other colors. The upper part is white with four LED lights on the slanted surface. In a capsule, it looks like an ornament on a mantle. The speaker is capable of streamlining audio in WiFi. It will also be integrated with Google Play Music which means that surrounding it with a Sonos-style system is highly likely. Functions for the device include checking the weather, setting alarms or reminders and making notes.

Considering that CEO Sundar Pichai credited Amazon for creating interest in the field, it is expected that the price will be at par or even less than the Echo.

Together with its mother company Alphabet, Google eyes technological resolutions as the organization's focal investment. It has been observed that the company is able to add spin into its rivals' projects and come up with products of its own.

Earlier last month, Google has integrated its messaging app into the functions of the Home Assistant. For a glimpse, the application is identified as Allo which will be set to challenge WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

Currently, Google is transacting with other related companies including manufacturers with regards to loading its Assistant into their products. It has been reported that making the AI figure exclusive is a priority for the search engine giant.
