Xiaomi launched two new models namely Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus yesterday in China.  Ever since the launch took place, it is being said that they have been brought in to compete against Apple's iPhone 7 and its preceding models that are attracting customers in large numbers.

Xiaomi, known as the Apple of China, has obviously taken inspiration from the American smartphone company, claims India Today. The new models with their top notch hardware and refined looks are quite a competition for the ultra cool iPhone7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The naming style makes it pretty clear as well and the best thing is that they are available at pocket-friendly prices.

Until now, Xiaomi mostly took inspiration from Apple in the software department. But now, they have covered hardware too and the combined effort is surely an initiative that deserves applause. More so, because Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus go against the normal trend. It is the first time that Xiaomi has launched two versions simultaneously.

The Mi 5S has a 5.15-inch screen while 5S Plus stands at 5.7 inches. The latter is loaded with two memory variants- 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It is also thinner and lighter in comparison to iPhone 7 Plus, 20 grams lighter and 0.2mm thinner, to be precise.

Both the models possess an all-metal unibody and carry the rose gold shade. The best part thing is that Mi 5S Plus has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner that works even when the user has dirty or wet fingers. Apple phones are clearly missing on this point and this makes Mi 5S a winner of sorts.

Talking of Mi 5, the flagship phone of Xiaomi proved to be a little disappointing, claims Gizmodo. The heating issues and then OnePlus 3 launch made it a lose traction. However, Mi 5S is set to change the scene.

Powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 821 64-bit octa-core processor, Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5S Plus possess a 12-megapixel camera that is further loaded with Sony's IMX378 sensor. The front camera is also good, standing at 4-megapixel.
