US Republican candidate Donald Trump seeks to grab the attention of the millennials using Snapchat geofilters that will be seen nationwide before the first presidential debate slated on Monday at the Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.

This is an attempt to reach out to more young voters who are reported to be frustrated of the Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, considering that many of them also make up the biggest part of social app users.

The Independent Journal  Review exclusively learned of Snapchat geofiters purchase by Trump. It has described that one of the ads will act as a preview to the most - awaited debate with the marquee "Donald J. Trump vs Crooked Hillary." This is in addition to his slogan, ""Make America Great Again."

According to Time, a different version will be seen during the debate itself, but it will be a surprise filter since it will not attack Clinton.

Following his blast of his close rival on Twitter, Trump has resorted to Snapchat by purchasing a national geofilter.  Only one advertiser can purchase a nation - wide geofilter per day on Snapchat. It is said that what Trump did was the "first of its kind by a presidential campaign."

For the past months, both Trump and Clinton have resorted to the app's filters but they were mostly on the regional level only. Both have actually increased their spending on Snapchat. Trump used them to promote his rallies, while Clinton released stories as an attack to Trump's policies.

Starting out as a mobile app for image sending and messaging, Snapchat has eventually evolved into a news platform.  While it may not have a proven track record yet in the field of election advertising, large amount of campaign funds are lately being devoted to this app to reach out to its millions of millennial users.
