The father of Ahmad Khan Rahami, the suspect in the recent bombings in New York and New Jersey, has contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about his son a couple of years ago. Mohammad Rahami has claimed that he told the agency that Ahmad Khan is a terrorist. However, the Bureau has found the suspect to be clean and left him out of the watch list.

According to the father, who is a restaurant owner, the call to the FBI has been placed due to the violent outbursts of his son against family members. In 2014, Ahmad Rahami has been charged for aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing his brother. However, a grand jury has failed to indict him. According to the older Rahami, he has also hit his step mother.

During his conversations with the FBI, the restaurant proprietor has referred to his son as a terrorist. In the ensuing investigation, the agency has found no clues that Ahmad Khan was radicalized. It is unclear, however, if the law enforcement agents have interviewed him.

Investigators believe that the bomb Rahami used in New York, which is significantly more powerful than those utilized in Boston, could indicate he received terror training. Rahami has been in Pakistan from April 2013 to March 2014. Days before the attack, his wife Asia Bibi Harani has left the United States. The Bureau is reaching out to authorities in the UAE and Pakistan for assistance. Rahami's mother also left the US for Turkey around three weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Congressman Albio Sires of New Jersey reveals that Ahmad Khan Rahami emailed his office in April 2014, inquiring about his wife's visa. The delay in the issuance of the document is due to her expired passport. It has also been discovered that she was 35 weeks pregnant. Rahami's wife has been told to wait until the child was born. She has also been informed to obtain travel papers for the baby.

On the other hand, Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage states that he learned about Mohammad Rahami's calls to the FBI only through the media. He adds that he was in a meeting with New Jersey's senators, Congressman Sires and the FBI agent running the probe but he has been left out of the information loop.

Ahmad Khan Rahami is being charged with several crimes including the use of weapons of mass destruction and bombing a place of public use. The criminal complaint against him has presented how close the attacks had caused death and even more destruction.
