Thomas Gibson will still appear in "Criminal Minds" Season 12 despite being fired from the series. Because of that, one of the female cast members has been tagged to take the lead. CBS also finally released the official plot description of the premiere episode 'The Crimson King'.

Former lead actor Thomas Gibson, who plays the role of Aaron Hotchner will still be a part of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 despite being axed from the show. According to International Business Times, series scribes came up with a storyline as to give him a smooth exit in the CBS series.

Gibson, 54, was fired after having an on-set altercation with the producer and series scribe Virgil Williams. His character will only appear in the first 2 episodes of the show.

In line with this, speculations have surfaced that FBI BAU (Federal Bureau of Investigation Behavioral Analysis Unit) head chief Aaron "Hotch" Hotchner will be replaced by a female actress. With that being said, Chat Sports Net has learned that Paget Brewster has been tagged to take over the lead role in the upcoming season of "Criminal Minds".

The 47-year old American actress just recently confirmed that she will reprise her role as Emily Prentiss. Emily happens to be an Interpol in London and a former Supervisory Special Agent 

As for the official plot synopsis of "Criminal Minds" Season 12 premiere episode, Spoilers Guide notes, "Special Agent Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) joins the BAU  team, which is tasked with capturing a killer who escaped prison with 13 other convicts at the end of last season."

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 episode 1 is entitled as "The Crimson King". The upcoming season is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 0:00 p.m. first and exclusive on CBS Network.
