The "Fifty Shades Darker" trailer released on Wednesday immediately made something that only a few movie ever accomplished - getting over 100 million views within 24 hours after its release.

According to The Guradian, the "Fifty Shades Darker" trailer which serves as the second installment teaser for EL James' BDSM, earned a total of 114 million views across different platforms. Although the figure is relatively large given a limited period of time, it is actually considered as a record breaker since it broke the previous record of 112 million views.

Prior to the record-breaking views, a Vox report revealed that the record was held by "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" for quite a long time. Star Wars movie got a total view of 112 million in 24 hours. Just like the Fifty Shades sequel, such count also included all the recognized platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, among others.

A detailed report from The Hollywood Reporter explained that the "Fifty Shades Darker" racked more than 2.5 million views on the first hour from the domestic Facebook page of "Fifty Shades."

The same report also divulged that it was viewed 39.4 million times in North America within the 24 hour period. The remaining 76.4 million official views came from the international markets, including France, Mexico and UK.

Given these preliminary achievements, it is expected that "Fifty Shades Darker" will definitely emerge as a blockbuster hit when it will be released on February 2017. It is also expected to beat the total revenue of more than half a billion dollars that the first installment has earned.

Finally, the "Fifty Shades Darker" sequel will bring back Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan to play the role of the bondage-loving couple Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.
