This is because showrunner Corinne Brinkerhoff is quite positive about the second installment. In fact, she had pitched in the show's idea to CBS with several seasons in mind.

Brinkerhoff revealed this fact during an interview and said that when she pitched "American Gothic" to CBS, she had the vision that the first five or six seasons would be the same general idea. However, each season would have a different family, different mystery, and different setting.

The showrunner categorically pointed out that she wanted to explore similar themes and keep "American Gothic" very character-based. The creative idea was to revolve around the same universe but with a touch of reinvention. This is to say that she wanted to reinvent the family and the story so that she could do it again and again.

Well, her revelation about the future of "American Gothic" is really music to the ears of fans but this is not all that Brinkerhoff had to say. Drawing an interesting analogy, she said that "American Gothic" is a summer novel in TV form and viewers will get an answer by the finale.

Speaking about the recently concluded Season 1, Brinkerhoff revealed that when she sat down in the writer's room with the team, she made a master plan about the happenings that would take place over the course of the first season, eventually leading to the finale.

Well, it remains to be seen how and when the Season 2 of "American Gothic" takes shape.
