In an interview with British GQ, a day after Swift broke up with Tom Hiddleston, Harris blamed the media for their supposed exaggerations of their breakup.

The magazine recently awarded Harris as "Man of the Year."

"It's very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly. The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized than the relationship itself," Harris explained.

"When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense," he added.

He also said that after they broke up, he said things he regret about Swift through social media as reported by Vanity Fair.

He mentioned about Twitter as his only regret regarding the aftermath of their break up. The issue was in relation to the supposed collaboration of Harris and Rihanna on single "This Is What You Came For."

At first Harris allowed her to write the lyrics, but later he was displeased with his decision after they broke up. So he took the matter to social media and all hell broke loose.

The 32-year-old disk jockey said he is not good at being celebrity as quoted by TIME. He finally realized that what he posted of Twitter was only a result of how he succumbed to the pressure.

His collaboration with Rihanna has brought him an international success in a single "We Found Love" in 2011. The song became his first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100.

Harris dated Swift since March 2015 and he ended their relationship in June 2016.
