Even though two-and-a-half years have motored by after a skiing accident devastated Michael Schumacher, there is hardly any news about the Formula 1 hero's health. The seven-time world champion fell and hit a rock even as he skied in the French Alps three years ago. He was blown for half a year as he remained in induced coma.

Last September, Schumacher was brought home to his Lake Geneva home in Switzerland. But his German family has been tight-lipped about his recovery. There isn't going to be any updates, said his manager Sabine Kehm, who has conveyed all the news from Schumacher's wife, Corinna.

"We all know that I cannot comment," she is reported to have exclaimed at a charity event in Frankfurt. "We just have to accept that the family wants to continue to protect their privacy.

"Of course, Michael will not disappear but at the moment the private situation is so difficult that unfortunately no insight can be given. There must be understanding for this."

At first, Kehm squashed rumors that he could walk again. Her latest update following that statement was made in February, when she said: "We must hope with everything we have that, with continued support and patience, he will one day be back with us."

Currently, his medical fees has eaten away a lot of his property, including a holiday home in Norway and a private jet. Schumacher became the richest Formula 1 driver in collaboration with Benetton, Ferrari and Mercedes, participating in record-winning matches.

Meanwhile, it is his son, 17-year-old Mick, who has entered Formula 4, in which he stood second in the championship. He will soon move on to Formula 3. However, will he come out of the shadow of his father?

"It's important to me to have a solid base and to become confident in all areas racing will be confronting me with," he told Pirelli's website. "Exactly for this reason, I will not be rushed and will not only have an eye for the quick results."

On July 27, he will participate in a charity soccer match to honor his father.

"Over many years Michael has been both an initiator and integral part of charity soccer matches," Kehm said. "We are happy that together with Dirk we can offer a real highlight to the many fans who we would like to thank for their continuous support with this match. We hope they will have a lot of fun that evening."
