Motorola has some great news for buyers of its latest low-cost Moto G smartphone. The company has rolled out Android 4.4.2 KitKat for phone's bought through Motorola's website and Amazon in the U.S.

Motorola began rolling out the latest Android KitKat update for its flagship Moto X smartphone on different U.S. carriers, starting last month. The final round of update was announced for Moto X on Sprint and US Cellular, December 12. After thoroughly updating its flagship smartphone throughout the U.S., Motorola is focusing on its other fast-moving low-end smartphone models. The company announced Thursday that that it has started rolling out Android 4.4.2, which is currently the latest version of Google's OS, for Moto G smartphones.

The latest Android update brings bag full of features for the compact smartphone. The Touchless controls have been improved to access the feature without a personal PIN. They can even unlock the device by dictating the PIN. Like other Motorola devices, the update improved the camera to add matching features in the Moto X smartphone. Features like Drag to Focus, Expose, and locking exposure during panoramic shots make their way to the Moto G and other accompanying handsets including DROID MINI, DROID MAXX, and DROID ULTRA.

"Starting today, we are rolling out Android 4.4.2 to Moto G phones bought on Motorola.com or Amazon.com in the U.S.," Punit Soni, Motorola product manager, said in a company's blog. "KitKat will come to other Moto G carriers and regions soon as well. This latest version of Android brings some cool new features, including printing emails and photos from your phone. Read our release notes for detailed information."

The Moto G also features an improved active display functionality that aims at improving the battery life of the device with timely fade in and out when the device display is off.
