What do the American comedian, Ellen DeGeneres and the future royal queen, Kate Middleton, have in common?

DNA! The two of them are 15th cousins who are twice removed. An ancestral tracing company in Boston, the New Genealogical Society, discovered that they were related through Sir Thomas Fairfax and his wife, Agnes Gascoigne, who resided in England in the early 1500s.

Ellen says: "She refuses to admit it and I don't know why. But I am going to be at Wimbledon and if my cousin Kate is there I'm going to bring the DNA chart with me."

Ellen DeGeneres says that she plans to head towards Kate Middleton and strengthen, not ignore their bond.

"Kate Middleton and I are distant cousins and I don't know if she thinks I'm joking, but I'm going to confront her,". she exclaims.

So on Wednesday, when the Middleton family had dropped into the Wimbledon court for a day out, with Kate's mother Carole, dad Michael and Pippa agog at the Centre Court, Kate did not attend it.

Perhaps she had got wind of DeGeneres' plan to contact her, and had decided to skip the reunion. Or perhaps she didn't. The point is that it was one Wimbledon where the princess and the presenter did not meet.
