According to Josh Safran, "Quantico" showrunner, he has been very cooperative in sharing details about the new season and has also hinted that something great will happen with Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra) as she joins CIA after her tenure with FBI. In a recent interview, Safran said "The event in season 2 is probably even bigger than season 1 on some level ... But while it is bigger, it's also more contained. It allows us to feel more rooted every time we travel from one timeline to another."

"Again, if season 1 was sort of The Fugitive, season 2 has another blockbuster in mind," he added.

Safran also said previously that the upcoming season will answer a lot of questions about Alex's past. He also teased that the fans can expect to see a shocking twist in the first few episodes of "Quantico" season 2.

"We're very interested in the fact that the FBI's so much about being honest, truthful and living up to your badge," he said, "and the CIA is the opposite. You succeed if you can deceive. So it's going to be interesting to see. It's like a funhouse mirror of what we've seen." In previous season 2 spoilers, it has already been hinted that a new female lead will replace Alex Parris in the FBI.

However, it is still unknown whether or not the new character will be an enemy or an ally. But the sources claim that the new character will be a crucial one in the second run of the show.

For now, the casting executives are looking to bring in a 20-something African-American female to take on the role of Lydia, "sharp and sexy prodigy who will do whatever it takes to get what she wants in the field."
