Selena Gomez has quite a few of her fans worried with the sudden news of her 2014 Australian tour's cancellation.

Events company Live Nation says that the Australian leg of her "Stars Dance" tour has indeed been cancelled, and a rep for Gomez confirmed the news Thursday to MTV.

"My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them," Gomez said in a statement. "But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be."

The statement is vague enough to create speculation over why exactly the 21-year-old singer cancelled all five performances scheduled for Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne as part of her first-ever world tour that began back in August. She has yet to comment on the cancellation via social media, having last tweeted on Dec. 18.

During her last public appearance, a radio concert in L.A., Gomez dropped the f-bomb and walked off-stage after her microphone failed, footage of her on-stage agitatation going viral online not long after the incident, according to news.com.au. Gomez also recently cut a set of dates in Asia set to take place in January right before her Australian leg.

Tour cancellations are typically are due to poor sales, but Gomez's "Stars Dance" tour has doing well sales-wise. The U.S. portion ended on Nov. 26.
