Microsoft's Xbox press conference Monday at Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 2016 confirmed what many fans have long suspected: Gwent Card game is getting a solo release.

Gwent card is a fan favorite spin-off in The Witcher 3 video game. Game developer CD Projekt Red said that they have been flooded with fan requests to give in-game element a standalone release.

The solo version of Gwent was rumored earlier this week after CD Projekt Red filed for a trademark in Europe fueling speculations of a solo release. Moreover, CD Projekt Red boss Marcin Iwinski also dropped hints of a possible Gwent project to be announced at this year's E3, Gamespot reported. To tease fans, the developer also put up a massive poster occupying a sizeable portion of Figueroa Hotel in Los Angeles.

"Yes, we were mysteriously quiet after the launch of The Witcher 3, but during all this time we were hard at work on what we just unveiled today - Gwent: The Witcher Card Game," Iwinski said in a press release as quoted by Tech Times. "We've taken all that heart and energy you gave us and put it into Gwent."

As reported by CNET, the Gwent card solo will be first rolled out in a closed beta version. The full spin-off version will be available for official release sometime in September 2016 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For interested beta testers, sign-ups are already open for registration on PlayGwent.com.

As for the gameplay, Kotaku mentioned that Gwent will be a crossplay multiplayer game which allows gamers to play against each other using different platforms. Additionally, the game will also feature a single-player story campaign with friendly and ranked matches. The core mechanics in the standalone release will be the same as the in-game version save for completely redesigned graphics and other gameplay enhancements.
