The recent WhatsApp update now allows Windows Phone users to send video messages to people on their contact list, according to Winsource.com

WhatsApp is known to be one of the friendliest messaging services across all platforms. Recently, an app version for windows phones was launched. Though video messaging was only available in the beta version of the app, the feature is now available to everyone. The latest Version 2.11.340 now makes the Windows Phone version of the app at par with versions on other platforms.

The app doesn't allow recording videos but pre-recorded ones can be shared and sent using Whatsapp, says the report. The update brings with it the facility to send multiple images at once, saved received videos and to use an existing account on a new phone.

The update came with the conformation that Whatsapp is still holding out against carrying advertisements. The company generates its revenue through its annual fees of 99 cents.

"We do have a manifesto opposing advertising," WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum told AllThingsD, according to an earlier HNGN report. "We're proud of that. Who likes advertising? We're so bombarded with ads so much in our daily lives and we felt that smartphones aren't the place for that. Our phones are so intimately connected to us, to our lives. Putting advertising on a device like that is a bad idea. You don't want to be interrupted by ads when you're chatting with your loved ones."

Since its launch, WhatsApp's has become increasingly popular. Rumors of Facebook and Google wanting to acquire the messaging service have made the rounds in the last six months but Whatsapp officials confirmed they were not selling the service.
