At the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, Will Smith was honored with the MTV Generation Award. The Lonely Island took the stage to perform a musical tribute to the iconic actor and rapper with a medley of his greatest hits.

From "Men in Black" to the "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" theme song to "Gettin' Jiggy with It," the Lonely Island put on a hilarious and memorable '90s-themed performance to honor Smith for all he's done in the industry. The comedy trio - Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer - wore overalls with one strap unbuttoned and neon printed T-shirts in true "Fresh Prince" fashion while they performed the hip-hop medley.

The 47-year-old actor enjoyed the performance with his son Jaden from their seats before Queen Latifah and Halle Berry got onstage to share some stories about their good friend and his acting career, as well as his fight for diversity in Hollywood. Smith has been in the business since the late '80s when he was introduced into the rap scene with his role as the Fresh Prince. From there, he went on to put out some of the most catchy hip-hop tunes and to star in some of the greatest movies of all time, which is why MTV decided to honor him with this prestige award.

"He is the first rapper to break into movies and become an international superstar and the king of huge blockbuster movies, and we all have to thank him for opening up that door," Latifah said.

"When MTV wanted to give me the Generation Award, I thought that was like code for the 'old-ass dude award," Smith said Sunday night during his acceptance speech. "I released my first record when I was 17, and this June marks 30 years in this business for me... I really want to say I'm humbled, and I just want all of you to know I'm dedicated to being a light in this world. There's a lot of suffering - a lot of people are suffering in this world. When you see my material, and when I present myself in public, and what I'm trying to build with my family and friends, I just want all of you to know I'm dedicated until I die to light and to love. So thank you all."
