West Indies women's cricket team stormed into the WT20 final for the first time as the Caribbean side defeated New Zealand by six runs at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. Britney Cooper's brilliant half century helped West Indies to set a challenging target of 143 for six in twenty overs. The Kiwi batters, in reply, could manage 137 for eight in the end. West Indies skipper Stafanie Taylor praised her teammates for their fantastic performance against the undefeated White Ferns.

"We played fantastic today. I think 143 was a descent score. Full credit goes to the team the way they played. Britney played a very good knock and took on the bowlers," Taylor said after the historic win. "We played Australia in the semi-finals (in previous World T20s) and now we play them in the finals, they are a good and tough team, if we are consistent and play it like today, and bowl well against them we fancy our chance."

The defending champions, Australia, registered a thrilling five run victory over England in the first semi-final of WT20, played at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium on Wednesday. The Meg Lanning-led side first posted 132 for six in twenty overs and then restricted English batters to 127 for seven in the end.

"We knew the powerplay would be crucial and with the start we got, we got ahead of the game. We knew it would be more difficult when the ball was softer so it was crucial we built on that momentum," Aussie skipper Meg Lanning said during a post match interaction with media.
