Warning: The following contains spoilers for season five of HBO's "Game of Thrones."

Though Brienne of Tarth finally exacted her long awaited revenge on Stannis Baratheon last year on "Game of Thrones," it's fair to say that her arc, other than that, was kind of boring. All Brienne really did was wait around for Sansa to need help, and she didn't even get that right!

But actress Gwendoline Christie recently revealed that Brienne is going to be much more active during the upcoming sixth season of the hit HBO fantasy series.

"After season 5, people would come up on the street moaning about why wasn't Brienne wasn't doing more," Christie said. "I'd say, 'I'm terribly sorry, I'm not really in charge of that.' I got the scripts for season 6 and I thought the story was so fantastic. It's really exciting to see Brienne burst forth again."

Thus far, Brienne has survived mounting challenges despite being a kind and loyal person, character traits that typically get you killed in Westeros. Her continued existence on the show is largely thanks to her impressive combat skills (remember that fight with the Hound?), but there's more to Brienne than just a sword and true grit.

"Brienne is so unique and unconventional and so strong, and I love the writing hasn't allowed her to just rest there," Christie said. "[Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] are so terrific about how they develop characters. We see her develop like the way a human being might through life."

This season, Brienne will be interacting with character she's never met before which opens up an array of creative opportunities.

"So many characters for so long had their isolated storylines and as a fan of this show as well, I've been wanting and dreaming - 'I wonder what it would be like to see this person interact with this other person?' And that's what starts to unfold."

Some of Christie's reduced role last year may have been due to her increased workload elsewhere. The actress joined two big time franchises in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" and "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (with more coming in "Star Wars: Episode VIII"). But just because Christie is becoming popular in Hollywood doesn't mean she wants to leave the small screen of "Thrones" quite yet.

"I really am in a position now where I'm very lucky to do other things," she said. "But I don't ever want to stop playing this part."

"Game of Thrones" will return to HBO for its sixth season on Sunday, April 24.
