The Amazing Spider-Man has been a popular topic of conversation this past week as both the poster and first teaser trailer debuted. What many people may be forgetting in all of the hype surrounding the sequel is that Sony confirmed that there will be two more films in the series back in July. However, will Andrew Garfield be a part of the fourth installment?

In a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies UK, Garfield sat down with co-stars Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx. According to IGN, the first part of the interview was mostly the typical questions you ask a movie cast. However, the interviewer then asked Garfield about the third and fourth installments of the films. His response is that he's contractually obligated to be in the third film but has not signed on for number four. In his words "That's all news to me. I mean, I'm under contract for another one after this... as far as a fourth one? That's not anything to do with me."

This could either mean the Garfield has no intention of coming back for a fourth film as the web slinger or that Sony doesn't want him back. However, it's also possible that the studio jumped the gun by announcing the fourth movie. This wouldn't be entirely out of the realm of possibility as the fourth movie isn't expected to be anywhere close to ready until 2018.

IGN speculates that the fourth movie might not center around Spider-Man but rather ancillary characters. This means that Garfield's Spider-Man could die in the third movie and be replaced by another - in a similar storyline to a few of the comics from Marvel.
