The Dallas Cowboys are invested in expanding their running back corps this off season and they could potentially add one of the starting running backs from an NFC East foe. Redskins' running back, Alfred Morris, is visiting the Dallas Cowboys as they look to add another veteran running back to this roster. Morris was released from the Redskins after under performing during the 2015 season.

During that time, Morris recorded 16 starts, 202 rushing attempts and 751 rushing yards at 3.7 yards per carry. Morris only recorded 1 rushing touchdown during the whole 2015 season which was reportedly one of the reasons he was released.

Washington found two young running backs in Matt Jones and Chris Thompson to handle the majority of the offensive workload. Washington will likely draft a running back to replace Alfred Morris while he looks for employment elsewhere. The Cowboys could utilize Morris as a change of pace back and would officially end any speculation of them drafting a running back in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

The Cowboys already have Darren McFadden as their starting tailback and he had one of the best seasons of his career behind this strong offensive line. McFadden had his first 1,000 yard season since 2010 and was a reliable running back for a player known for his injury issues. In terms of age, Morris is the younger back as McFadden will be 29 by the time the 2016 NFL season rolls around.

The Cowboys were expected to select running back Ezekiel Elliott during the 2016 NFL Draft, however, since they have the fourth overall pick, it seems a good position to draft a running back. Instead, the Cowboys could build up this defense by selecting safety Jalen Ramsey or defensive end Joey Bosa to bring an in an immediate impact on this football team.

This would mean that the Cowboys would need to select a running back in the later rounds of this draft to eventually develop into the lead running back in this offense. Morris could come in and become one of the leaders of this running game right away. Morris seemed to be declining last season and the Redskins are not looking to bring him back; however, if he signed for the right price, he could become a promising tool within Dallas's offensive system.
