The boys of One Direction are accustomed to, if not comfortable with, being mobbed by hordes of fans routinely in airports and other crowded public locations, but most recently, one fan mob led to Zayn Malik being accidentally choked by his bodyguard, the Mirror reports.

After landing in JFK Airport in New York to begin rehearsing for their "Saturday Night Live" appearance, hundreds of excited fans began mobbing Zayn, Harry, Louis, Liam and Niall, but it was Zayn Malik whom, among all of the craziness, was reportedly mistaken for a diehard fan and put into a headlock by his bodyguard. Malik didn't look particularly bothered by the incident, nor was he injured, but the soft-spoken singer has, according to his fiancée Perrie Edwards, had a harder time adjusting to fame than his bandmates.

"I don't think it's necessarily I have a 'harder' time with it. It's just something that took a bit of time for me to get my head around, which obviously is normal for anybody, I guess," Malik told E! News in a recent interview. "It's not something that is a normal thing to be doing. So it took a bit of time for me to get used to it, but I am used to it now and it's fun. I'm having fun with it, so it's all good."

Malik and Edwards, who got engaged in August, are currently planning their wedding, though it will prove difficult as the two are both part of groups (Edwards a member of British girl group Little Mix) and will be departing on separate world tours next year.

"She's torn between having a UK [wedding], because all her family are here, and doing something magical and exotic abroad, like Barbados," a source told the Mirror, while Edwards told the Sun that "it's going to be a massive circus," adding, “I actually wanted to have quite a small wedding, but then all the girls in my family are desperate to come and would like to be bridesmaids too.”
