New Zealand will take on Australia in their second World T20 match Friday at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.

The Kiwis, who began their World T20 campaign with a dramatic 47-run win over title favourite India, are looking to extend their winning run in Super10 Group 2 matches of the global twenty20 event.

The Kane Williamson-led side beat hosts India in their opening match of tournament in Nagpur on Tuesday. The spin trio's (Mitchel Santner, Ish Sodhi and Nathan McCullum) nine wicket haul helped New Zealand to defend a modest total of 126 on a spin friendly pitch.

The confident Kiwis are now looking to carry their winning momentum when they take on Australia in their second WT0 encounter. "The boys are chuffed but the boys are really tired. It's time to recuperate now and hopefully we can get the most out of training tomorrow, assess the conditions and hopefully we can prepare accordingly for the wicket ahead," Kiwi spinner Ish Sodhi said.

Aussie all rounder Shane Whatson reminded New Zealand on Thursday of its poor record against Australia in the past few years. "Look, there's no doubt that the Kiwis always play very well. They always punch above their weight and they've been playing very good cricket, especially over the last couple of years," Whatson said.

"We'll certainly be letting them know of that as well, because they're going to have to be at their absolute best to beat us. Knowing there's a good rivalry and a good history there in big games that I've been fortunate enough to be a part of against the Kiwis, hopefully (Friday's match) follows a similar route."
