Jeanne Benoit said goodbye to Tony the last time the ex-lovers saw each other, hoping for closure on their difficult past. The NCIS agent had put her marriage in jeopardy by showing up again, and her husband had made clear that he would not let Tony steal away his wife.

Tony has apologized for causing their marriage any strife, but Jeanne still seems hung up on her former beau, which could bring Scottie Thompson back for one more episode of "NCIS" before Michael Weatherly exits at the end of this season. A return storyline is under consideration as plans for Weatherly's final episodes begin.

"We're talking about it," showrunner Gary Glasberg told TVLine.

Thompson reprised her role as Jeanne for the first time since season five in an episode last fall. NCIS helped to rescue a group of doctors, including Jeanne's husband David (David Chisum), after insurgents ambushed them in the Sudan. Her and Tony's last encounter a few weeks ago brought up a possible link to her deceased father, who was an international arms dealer. That didn't sit well with Jeanne either.

Another woman "NCIS" fans are hoping to see or at least hear mention of in Weatherly's final episode is Tony's longtime partner, Ziva David. The show has not confirmed the return of Cote de Pablo, who left the show in season 11, but her character will play some role in Tony's departure.

"You can't have Tony leave the show and not get into that in some respect," Glasberg said, "so plan on it being discussed and handled, even if it's in background."

Tony nearly left NCIS to stay with Ziva in Israel two years ago, but ultimately returned home to D.C. alone. The couple shared their first romantic kiss on the tarmac before Tony boarded his plane.

Chances of de Pablo reprising her role as Ziva continue to dwindle as production nears for the season finale. The actress also just booked a leading role on the Syfy pilot "Prototype," which could tie her up when "NCIS" would need her to come in for filming.

"NCIS" will celebrate its 300th episode on Tuesday, March 15 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
