Steve Rogers and Tony Stark will take their sweet time battling it out in the upcoming Marvel movie, "Captain America: Civil War." The longest-running Marvel movie to date, "Civil War" is 147 minutes long, beating out "The Avengers," which clocked in at 143 minutes in 2012.

Over the first 12 Marvel movies, the average runtime was 125 minutes. "The Incredible Hulk" and "Thor 2: The Dark World" ran the shortest time at 112 minutes each. "Avengers: Age of Ultron" came in two minutes shorter (141 minutes) than the first superhero ensemble movie.

Given how much "Captain America: Civil War" needs to squeeze into its story, it's not too surprising the movie runs on the longer side. The movie will introduce new superheroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Spider-Man (Tom Holland) - and set up a potential deadly face-off between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.).

The movie also plays like a third "Avengers" film, featuring much of the cast from "Age of Ultron" including Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Don Cheadle (War Machine), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Paul Bettany (Vision), Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) and Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts). Stars returning from previous "Captain America" movies include Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier), Emily VanCamp (Agent 13) and Frank Grillo (Crossbones).

William Hurt will reprise his character Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross for the first time since "The Incredible Hulk." Paul Rudd gets to join the Avengers party for the first time as Ant-Man and Daniel Brühl makes his debut as Baron Zemo.

"Civil War" will take place a year after the events of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

"Marvel's Captain America: Civil War" premieres on May 6.
