Chanel announced that Willow Smith is its newest ambassador. The young model is joining major names like Lily-Rose Depp, Kristen Stewart, Keira Knightley, Diane Kruger and Blake Lively as designer Karl Lagerfeld's latest representative for the iconic label.

The 15-year-old daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has been taking the fashion industry by storm, modeling in campaigns for major brands like Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs. Willow is known for her unique sense of style, and naming her ambassador says a lot for the brand.

"Willow Smith has been chosen by Karl Lagerfeld as the new CHANEL ambassadress," the official Chanel account tweeted. Willow then took to Instagram to share the exciting news.

"Thank you Karl Lagerfeld and the entire team at Chanel for expanding the perceptions of 'beauty' by picking me to be the new Chanel ambassador," she captioned a photo of herself with the designer. "I am honored." She also posted a photo of herself with model Kendall Jenner at the Fall 2016 Chanel show.

Willow sat front row at the show in Paris Tuesday morning, and later explained why this is such a big deal for her. "Sitting in the chairs and just watching the clothes walk by is so amazing because you get to see the soul that's inside of them," she told Teen Vogue backstage. "I feel like there is so much creativity going on that I want to inject some of my ideas and some of my energy into the brand, because I feel like there's a lot of things that come from youth nowadays that need to be expressed and amplified into the world."

Naming Willow an ambassador also coincides with the major changes going on in the fashion industry as of recently as she is the first woman of color to be chosen as a Chanel ambassador. Her septum ring piercing, spiky natural hair and bold makeup choices also allow her to boldly stand out from the rest.

In October, the young beauty signed with The Society, which is the same modeling agency that represents Jenner. She also became the face of the 2015 Marc Jacobs fall-winter campaign in June.

"I have always preferred collaborating with the people who inspire me to give new life to the clothes we show on our runway," Jacobs said at the time. "Here today I would like to share with you first the talented, stylish and charming Willow Smith."
